Become A Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar for Travis County!
Travis County enjoys the highest voter registration rate among urban counties in Texas thanks in large part to its 1300 Volunteer Deputy Registrars. As of January 1, 2011, the rate of registered voters among the eligible population in Travis County is 97.84% and that translates into 606,009 voters!
What They Do
Volunteer Deputy Registrars provide invaluable support by assisting citizens in getting registered to vote. They distribute voter registration applications and take responsibility for making sure the citizen completes the application correctly so there is no delay in processing. They also provide a receipt that serves as proof of registration and they personally deliver applications to the office of the voter registrar within 5 days of completion.
Who Can Volunteer
Volunteer Deputy Registrars come from all walks of life. They regularly promote voter registration at festivals, job fairs, concerts, community events and within their own social networks. To volunteer you:
- Must be 18 years old
- Must adhere to rules regarding providing and accepting applications
- Must attend a one hour training to prepare for the appointment.
