    Duties and Responsibilities

    Facilitates staff and treatment team meetings and consults with staff regarding treatment interventions and recommendations for juveniles and their families. Conducts individual and group therapy with youth and families. Provides supervision to several department staff, including clinical review of their work, guidance on client issues, and performance evaluations. Conducts trainings for department staff. Coordinates therapy referrals for contract providers and monitors staff adherence to licensing standards and program expectations.
    Minimum Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in one of the Social or Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Criminal Justice or a directly related field AND four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in social services, community corrections, or juvenile agency, including at least one (1) year in lead, supervisory or management experience;

    OR,

    Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.

    Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

    *Must be at least 21 years of age.

    *Certification as a Juvenile Probation Officer and Detention Officer or eligible for certification within six (6) months of date of hire, including successful completion of Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)First Aid and Handle with Care (state approved physical restraint technique).

    Directs the administrative operations of the Legal Unit within the Juvenile Probation Department. In addition to administrative duties, completes a variety of tasks requiring a law degree, which may include researching information in the Family Code, assisting Judges with legal information specific to the creation of orders and communicating with other attorneys regarding requests for files or other legal documents. Oversees management of staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, and directs activities consistent with goals and objectives. Evaluates, plans and implements systems, processes and procedures to maximize efficiency. Receives or prepares and reviews statistical and programmatic reports. Monitors programs and processes. Recommends, and initiates changes in policies and procedures. Prepares reports and assists in analyzing departmental operations. May assist in budget preparations. Prepares and submits grant proposals to State and Federal agencies. Ensures compliance with contract agreements.
    Minimum Requirements

    Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration or one of the Social or Behavioral Sciences or a directly related field AND six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in a social service, community corrections or a juvenile agency, including three (3) years of mid- to senior level management experience;

    OR,

    Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.

    Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

    *Must be at least 21 years of age.

    *Certification as a Juvenile Probation Officer and/or Detention Officer or eligible for certification within six (6) months of hire date, including successful completion of CPR First Aid and Handle with Care (state approved physical restraint technique).

    *Valid Texas Driver's License.
