Burn Ban Lifted (1/31/2012)
The County Commissioners has lifted the burn ban.
Outdoor Cooking
Note: Solid fuel cooking is not allowed in public parks in Travis County.
Outdoor cooking on private property must be done in a covered enclosure designed to protect against the spread of fire. Citizens must ensure that all coals and ashes are extinguished before disposal.

Travis County Fire Code
The Travis County Fire Code requires each new commercial and public building, as well as, any existing structure for which use has changed or will sustain 50 percent or greater construction alteration to be permitted by the Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office prior to construction.

About Us
The Fire Marshal's Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for fire investigations, fire inspections and fire code enforcement within the county. All "Marshals" are Certified Fire/Arson Investigators, Certified Fire Inspectors & Licensed Peace Officers.
The Fire Marshal's Office also provides support to the 13 Fire Protection Agencies (ESD's), works with the Travis County Hazardous Materials Task Force and investigates citizen complaints regarding fire and life safety hazards.

- National statistics indicate that one out of every four fires is arson, killing 500 people and causing an estimated $900 million in property damage each year.
- Arson in Travis County is in line with national statistics, accounting for approximately 20% of all fires investigated by the Travis County Fire Marshal's Office.
