The District Criminal Courts founded Travis County Adult Drug Diversion Court in August 1993. It was the first and continues to be the only Drug Court of its kind in Travis County. Drug Courts are viewed as an alternative non-traditional court. It seeks a non-adversarial court approach regarding cases assigned to its court. Based upon this approach, Drug Courts represent the combined efforts of the justice system, treatment professionals, and social services entities to intervene and break the cycle of substance abuse, addiction, and crime.

Mission:

The mission of Travis County Drug Court is to serve the people of Travis County by reducing substance abuse and related crimes.

Purpose:

The purpose of the program is to address the needs of the substance abuser while they are in the community, utlitizing the programs that are currently in place.

Objective:

The program objective is for the client to achieve a drug free lifestyle and become productive participants in our community.
