Job Title |
Volunteer Library Assistant |
Objectives |
Travis County BCP Volunteer Program involves the community in endangered species conservation, land stewardship, wildlife management, monitoring, research, education, outreach, mapping, and information management. |
Duties and Responsibilities |
Assist with computer scanning, organizing, and cataloging natural resource information. |
Qualifications and Requirements |
The volunteer counter must provide his/her own transportation to meeting locations and must be at least 18 years old. You should have an interest in scientific and natural resource documents and maps, organization of library materials, and creation of searchable library catalog. |
Lines of Communication |
Staff will supervise your work. Your supervisor will provide guidance for library organization and training in catalog software. |
Orientation and Training |
The volunteer will receive orientation about the BCP, volunteer policy and safety. Job specific training will be provided for scanning and saving documents, organization of library files, and creation of library catalog. |
Times Needed and Place of Work |
The volunteer would work at the Travis County office downtown at 1010 Lavaca or at the Natural Resource Field Office at 9512 RM 620 North. The schedule is flexible. |
Commitment Required |
The volunteer would work at least three hours per week. Travis County would prefer a 6 month Service Agreement. |

Useful experience in digitizing and organizing documents and creation of a searchable library catalog. Exposure to scientific and natural resource information and BCP staff. |
Special Considerations |
Must be organized and detail oriented. |
Dress Code and Supplies |
We recommend you bring a cell phone and dress for office work. |
