Job Title |
Volunteer Environmental Educator |
Objectives |
Travis County BCP Volunteer Program involves the community in endangered species conservation, land stewardship, wildlife management, monitoring, research, education, outreach, mapping, and information management. |
Duties and Responsibilities |
The volunteer will be involved in creation and organization of environmental programs for the public. Educational programs are needed for all age groups to increase public understanding of the BCP, endangered species, native ecosystems, and land stewardship. Opportunities to present materials and curricula to the public are also available. |
Qualifications and Requirements |
The volunteer must be 18 years old. The volunteer should have an interest in environmental education, the BCP, native ecosystems, endangered species, and land stewardship. |
Lines of Communication |
Staff will supervise your work. Your supervisor will assign job duties and provide resources and support. |
Orientation and Training |
The volunteer will receive orientation about the BCP, volunteer policy and safety. Job specific training will be provided for educational area and age group of interest. |
Times Needed and Place of Work |
Job locations and schedule are flexible. |
Commitment Required |
Flexible, but you must be reliable. |
Benefits |
The volunteer will receive experience with planning curricula and creating materials, activities and exhibits for environmental education. The volunteer will have opportunities for public outreach. The volunteer will be trained by experienced staff. The volunteer will learn about the BCP, endangered species, native ecosystems, and land stewardship. |
Special Considerations |
The volunteer must enjoy creating and organizing educational programs. You should have an interest in educating the public about the BCP, endangered species, natural resource conservation and management, and environmental issues. You should be flexible and willing to coordinate with Travis County staff and educators. |
Dress Code and Supplies |
We recommend you bring a cell phone and dress for office work. |
