Job Title |
Community Outreach Volunteer |
Objectives |
Travis County BCP Volunteer Program involves the community in endangered species conservation, land stewardship, wildlife management, monitoring, research, education, outreach, mapping, and information management. |
Duties and Responsibilities |
The volunteer will attend community meetings and present information about the Balcones Canyonlands Conservation Plan and Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, the endangered species it protects, and its land stewardship strategies. |
Qualifications and Requirements |
Minimum volunteer age is 18. The volunteer should have an interest in community outreach, education, endangered species, natural resource management, and the Balcones Canyonlands Conservation Plan and Preserve. |
Lines of Communication |
Staff will supervise your work. The volunteer's supervisor will assign job duties and provide resources and support. |
Orientation and Training |
The volunteer will receive orientation about the BCP, volunteer policy and safety. Job specific training will be provided for presenting history and purpose of the BCCP and BCP, and information about the endangered species we protect and land stewardship strategies. |
Times Needed and Place of Work |
Volunteers are needed for community outreach at meetings and events. Some work may be required on weekends or evenings. |
Commitment Required |
Flexible, but you must be reliable. |
Benefits |
Fabulous experience with public speaking and community outreach. The volunteer will inform community and business organizations about natural resources, the BCCP and BCP. |
Special Considerations |
The volunteer must enjoy meeting the public and presenting information to groups and answering questions. The volunteer should be flexible and willing to attend community events, often on evenings and weekends |
