Travis County Probate Court

"First Friday"- Free CLE at the Probate Court

The Probate Court’s “First Friday” Continuing Legal Education Brown-Bag Lunch Series continues on Friday, March 2, 2012, with “Setting up Guardianships of the Estate and Dependent Administrations.

In both guardianships of the estate and dependent administrations, the Court is required to supervise most actions of the guardian or personal representative, and attorney representation is required throughout. In this CLE session, we’ll look at how attorneys can work with clients at the beginning of their representation to increase the odds that the ongoing representation and Court supervision will be as smooth as possible.

Associate Judge Dan Prashner and Probate Court Auditor Jana Cotton will lead the CLE session, with the active participation of several local attorneys who will share tips for setting up guardianships of the estate and dependent administrations from a practitioner’s perspective.

We’ll meet from noon to 1:15 p.m. on March 2, with the actual CLE presentation scheduled from 12:15-1:15. Check-in will be in the hall outside room 217 of the Travis County Courthouse, 1000 Guadalupe Street.

The First Friday CLE is free and open to everyone, but sign-ups are required so we can guarantee enough space for the people who attend. If you’d like to come, please contact Tanya Scanlon, Court Coordinator, at Tanya.Scanlon@co.travis.tx.us. She will confirm successful reservations with an email in return. (To be fair to everyone who would like to come, we would appreciate your not signing up unless you are fairly certain that you will be there.)
