CDBG- Recovery (CDBG-R)
Travis County received $226,300 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The funds must benefit Travis County low- to moderate-income residents who live in the unincorporated areas of the county, and meet the spirit of the Recovery Act as required by HUD, the County held a 7 day public comment period to receive comments on the proposed project from May 22, 2009 until May 29, 2009.
Project
Owner Occupied Home Rehabilitation: Water Connections in Plain View Estates
This project involves the service connection of approximately 39 houses (approximately 140 people) to public water infrastructure for the first time. The homes are located in Plain View Estates, a primarily low to moderate income neighborhood located in the unincorporated areas of Eastern Travis County. Learn more about the project.

Project Status and Reporting
As of September 24, 2010 an additional $36,947.68 was spent in the third quarter, for a total of $68,453 expended to date. Updated jobs figures and final spending amounts for the third quarter will be provided on this page by October 30, 2010.

During the Second Quarter of 2010, the following work was completed:
The Property survey is complete. All of the existing right-of-way, easements, topography, utilities, meter boxes, trees and structural improvements on the project site have been identified. The location of the septic systems and associated drain fields has been noted on the project plans. All existing water wells and associated plumbing for each home site has also been noted. The survey of all residents to determine if they are eligible to receive benefits is complete. The names and addresses of the property owners have been established, and a Right-of-Entry has been received from the homeowners eligible to participate in the project. Information confirming that each household assisted is a residence and not a business was collected. Water service applications from either the property owners or the residents have been received. A draft of the proposed specifications was submitted by the Engineer and reviewed by Travis County Staff. The design documents are 50% complete. Details of service connections and plumbing lines were submitted by the Engineer and reviewed by Travis County Staff. The Environmental Assessment is 60% complete.
