The 167th District Court
The Bailiff
I am Sal Hernandez, the bailiff for the 167th District Court.
The bailiff’s
job is to assist all visitors and participants in court proceedings and to
enforce courtroom rules and maintain proper decorum. The bailiff announces the
Judge’s
arrival and the formal beginning of court proceedings and also announces recesses
and adjournments. The bailiff also takes care of jurors during a jury trial
and tends to all their needs during their deliberations. A bailiff may or may
not be a certified peace officer and provide courtroom security.
