2012 Travis County Voting Maps Available Online

May 9, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Austin, Texas ---- Now that the redistricting process is complete, 96% of Travis County voters (573,000) had a change to a precinct number, a voting district, or both, and only 4% of voters (22,000) had no change. Travis County voters looking for information about voting districts have a new resource online at wwww.traviscountytax.org. The 2012 voting maps are available in several different formats, including large-scale maps of entire voting districts, individual precinct maps with street level detail, and interactive maps showing multiple precincts in relation to one another.

“Each time maps are redrawn, voters immediately begin requesting maps from our office,” said Travis County Tax Collector and Voter Registrar, Tina Morton. “We have provided maps online in the past, but the selection has been expanded to make it even easier for voters to download a pdf file or view an interactive map.”

Of Travis County's 247 election precincts, 238 precincts had a change to either the precinct number or the congressional, legislative, senate or commissioner district. There are currently 595,000 registered voters. The online maps will provide a visual representation of the voter’s new precinct.

Voters can access the maps at http://www.traviscountytax.org For additional assistance with questions about voter registration or new precinct boundaries, call (512) 854-9473.
