Election Worker
Video

During each election, we hire up to 1,500 election workers. This opportunity requires that you be a registered voter of Travis County.

For the primary and general elections, we are required to appoint one presiding judge and one alternate judge representing both the Democratic party and the Republican party for each polling location. Additional clerks also are hired to assist in operating each polling location.

Early Voting and Election Day Workers
The basic responsibilities of early voting and election day workers include greeting and assisting each voter as they come into the polling place as well as verifying the eligibility of potential voters. Training is provided and your time will be compensated.

Early voting workers should be available to work approximately eight hours per day for 14 days (typically will not exceed 40 hours per week). Election day workers should be available to work a minimum of twelve hours on election day.

Election Night Workers
Election night workers are needed to work at receiving substations and at the central counting station. Substation workers will assist in one of many jobs vital to processing receipt of ballots, voting materials and equipment. Workers at the central counting station assist in the process of vote tabulation.
