Disabilities Rights Information:
Polling Place Accessibility
The Travis County Clerk’s Elections Division is dedicated to making all polling places fully accessible including the pathway to the polling place, and seeking input from the community to assure that accessibility. Polling places are inspected to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and election workers are trained to offer support to persons with special needs.
Polling Place Accessibility Requirements

- The accessible parking spaces are closest to the polling area.
- The walkways, doorways, etc. from the disabled parking space to the polling area are at least 32 inches wide.
- The voting area must be: 1) on the ground floor, meaning it can be entered from the street; or 2) accessible by an elevator with doors that open at least 36 inches wide.

- Any curb next to the main entrance to the polling place must have curb-cuts or temporary non-slip ramps.
- The polling place may not have any barriers that impede the path of a voter with a physical disability, such as gravel, automatically closing gates, closed doors without level-type handles, etc.
- There is a route of travel that does not require the use of stairs.
- All inaccessible doorways have signs indicating the location of the nearest accessible entrance.
- All thresholds cannot exceed one-half inch.
- The door handle is operable with a closed fist.
