County Clerk
Elections Division
Public Ballot Proofing
Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir will conduct a public ballot proofing on the county’s eSlate voting system that will be used during the early voting period and on election day for the joint general and special elections.
The county clerk’s proofing test of the eSlate ballot will take place Friday, September 24, 2004, beginning at 9:00 am at 5501 Airport Boulevard. The test is expected to last most of the day.
The ballot proofing test is the first step in a series of tests administered on the county’s eSlate electronic voting system prior to each election. The ballot proofing provides all parties a final review of the information that will appear on the November 2 ballot. Proofing is expected to be completed by 5 pm, and no further changes will be accepted after this time.
Candidates and representatives of the Democratic, Republican and Libertarian parties, as well as certified write-in candidates, have been invited to review the accuracy of the ballot order and candidate names.
Representatives of Capitol Metro and the City of Lago Vista, which have contracted with the county clerk’s office to administer their November elections, will be on hand to review the propositions those entities will put before area voters in November.
Following the ballot proofing procedure, the county clerk’s staff begins preparing the 2,000 pieces of electronic equipment that will be used in the election.
The county clerk’s office will conduct two logic and accuracy tests before the start of the early voting period on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 10:00 am and before election day on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 10:00 am.
Candidates, the media and the general public are invited to attend all events.
