Class Objectives:
To understand the process of how to change behavior,
To discover how attitudes or beliefs can affect my behavior,
To understand how to control my attitudes and emotions so that I can take
more control of my life,
To decide to make positive steps to alter my present behavior,
To make a commitment to understand how to create a budget and balance a
checkbook.
Skills Taught:
Balancing a checking account, budgeting, responsibility, coping with stress,
making healthy choices, determining Wants vs. Needs, shopping for a Bank,
Self-improvement and goal setting.
Shoplifting / Theft ( Class Schedule )
Course Objectives:
To understand the process of changing negative behavior,
To discover how attitudes can override values,
To understand how to avoid negative influences,
To develop a plan to alter presents behavior,
To establish goal-directed behavior patterns,
To make a firm commitment never to repeat as a criminal offender.
Skills Taught:
Steps to Self Improvement, values, listening to your inner voice,Who is
a Criminal?, responsibility, trust, budgeting, staying in control, managing
stress, choices & consequences, wants vs. needs and establishing goals.
Assault / Misdemeanor ( Class

Course Objectives:
To understand why people use violence,
To discover how attitudes can override values,
To learn how to identify and control strong emotions,
To learn how to develop a plan to alter present behavior,
To gain better self-control,
To learn to walk away from confrontations,
To establish goal-directed behavior patterns,

Multiple Offender / Felony ( Class

To Understand the process of changing negative behavior.

relationships, job readiness, and self-improvement.

Youth Misdemeanor I ( Class Schedule )
Course Objectives:
To understand what led them to break the law and the consequences of breaking
the law.
To understand the process of changing and avoiding negative behavior.
To discover how to improve self-esteem and increase the quality of life.
To learn how to solve personal problems and control stress.
To develop or establish goal-directed behavior.
To make a commitment to never knowingly commit another criminal offense.
Skills Taught:
Solving personal problems, dealing with Peer Pressure, building Self-esteem,
developing positive values, responsible, goal setting, respecting others'
property, determining Wants vs. Needs, responsibility, law awareness and choice
& consequences.
Youth Misdemeanor II / Truancy ( Class
Schedule )
Course Objectives:
To understand the process of changing subconscious values
To discover how to improve self-esteem and increase the quality of life
To identify factors and use resources that will help on to finish school or
stay out of the criminal justice system
To understand the importance of an education and its effect on making a good
income
To learn how to solve personal problems and control stress
To understand the law and how it affect them through the Law Related Education
Program (mock trials, role-play simulations, etc..)
To make a commitment to never knowingly commit another criminal offense
Skills Taught:
Solving personal problems, dealing with Peer Pressure, building Self-esteem,
developing positive values, understanding skills and education needed to earn
a living, making healthy choices, goal setting, respecting others' property,

Tobacco Cessation ( Class
Schedule )
Course Objectives:
To understand the history and current tobacco laws
To understand the health consequences of tobacco use
To identify and control the factors that influence behavior
To develop a renewed awareness of tobacco responsibilities
To develop a plan to alter present tobacco use
Skills Taught:
History of Tobacco, Surgeon General's Warnings, considering quitting health
consequences of Tobacco use, recognizing and dealing with emotions, goal setting,
methods of quitting, coping skills, responsibility, law awareness and choice
& consequences.

Course Objectives:
To recognize and understand the "Conflict Process"
To recognize, understand and manage feelings associated with conflict and
anger
To engender self-control skills when interacting with others
To recognize and understand the consequences from the impact of one's action
on others
To develop problem solving and negotiation skills
To develop awareness of "others" point of view, empathy
To enhance communication skills
To enhance understanding of self and others
Skill Taught:
Relaxation techniques, biofeedback recognizing when the body is upset, managing
personal anger and recognizing anger in others, active listening and positive
responses, negotiation techniques, recognizing "triggers" and the
"STOP" cue also empathy and respect.
Juvenile Anger Management ( Class
Schedule )
Course Objectives:
To understand how and why laws are made
To understand the process of changing negative behavior
To discover what attitudes and values are and how they affect behavior
To understand the importance of participation in groups and the community
To gain skills in critical thinking and decision making
To understand and practice problem solving; conflict management and mediation
To gain the respect of authority
To make a firm commitment never to knowingly repeat as a criminal offender
Skills Taught:
How to identify basis for the law (principles, rights, etc.), how one can
affect the laws and legal system, how to make use of one's rights and responsibilities
under the law, identifying consequences to specific behaviors, identifying
criminal behavior and alternative behavior, staying in control, communication,
relationship building through respecting others' ideas and opinions and building
self-esteem.
