How do you apply?
Applications are available at emissions testing and repair sites. You may also download an application from this website. You can fax the application and supporting documentation to 512-854-5021. (Solicitud en Español)

Required documentation for the program:
- Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR), which the AirCheck Texas inspection station gives you at the end of the safety and emissions test;
- Proof of household income, such as a copy of your most recent federal income tax return or copies of pay stubs for all members of your family who have worked during the previous 30 days; or
- A card or letter verifying eligibility for the federal or state programs listed on the eligibility page.
You must apply for the program, no later than 30 days from the date your vehicle fails the emissions test. An application received 30 days after your vehicle fails the test will automatically be rejected. You must apply for the program and receive a voucher BEFORE any repairs are made to your vehicle and BEFORE you purchase a replacement vehicle.
When will I find out if I am eligible for assistance?
It takes three weeks for Travis County to verify that your family income meets the guidelines and your vehicle is eligible (see new requirements information), we will issue a voucher by mail along with a list of DPS Recognized Emissions Repair Facilities that perform emissions-related repairs and approved auto dealers. In the event that you do not meet the requirements to qualify for the program you will be mailed a letter of notification.
NOTE: If you submit an application, your name, telephone number, and home address may be subject to disclosure under the Texas Public Information Act.
